This is the trailer for Hereafter, which teams Oscar winners Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood with writer Peter Morgan – definitely a recipe for greatness. Morgan’s previous scripts include The Other Boleyn Girl, Frost/Nixon, The Last King of Scotland and The Queen, the latter two spawning Oscars for Best Actor (Forest Whitaker) and Best Actress (Helen Mirran), respectively.
The trailer seems to focus more on Damon’s retired psychic character George, although the plot synopsis below indicates that there are actually three stories colliding in the film. Bryce Dallas Howard (Twilight: Eclipse, Terminator: Salvation), Jay Mohr (Are We There Yet?, Street Kings), Jenifer Lewis (What’s Love Got to Do with It?, Madea’s Family Reunion), Steve Shirripa (The Sopranos) and Belgium-born actress Cécile De France all co-star.
In other news, Matt Damon is confirmed to reprise his role of Carol on NBC’s 30 Rock this Fall, and has over a dozen film projects coming up, including a remake of the 1969 John Wayne western True Grit.
Hereafter will be in theaters October 22. Here is the full synopsis:
A drama centered on three people who are haunted by mortality in different ways. George (Damon) is a blue-collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie (de France), a French journalist, has a near-death experience that shakes her reality. And when Marcus (Frankie/George McLaren), a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might-or must-exist in the hereafter.
