Just the thought of daylight savings time makes me sleepy, but we’re here now and warmer weather is on the way! March 20 is the first official day of Spring 2011, and soon the coats, hats and scarves will be replaced by bright colors, sandals and light fabrics – all topped off by soft, lingering scents.
March 21 marks National Fragrance Day, so the next time you’re out and about getting your Spring wardrobe together, be sure to try some of these beautiful aromas to compliment your new looks!
1. Guilty by Gucci
The new fragrance Guilty by Gucci is bold, floral, fruity and very high end, as you’ve come to expect from them. You will love the hints of mandarin and peach with pink pepper, geranium, amber, patchouli and lilac. And what says Spring more than lilac?
They’ve given some youthful edge to the Guilty campaign with actress Evan Rachel Wood representing the scent. Here is the introduction trailer with Wood and actor Chris Evans from Fall 2010:
2. Givenchy L’Intense
Once again, the strikingly beautiful Liv Tyler teamed up with Givenchy to launch its newest fragrance, L’Intense. While its predecessor L’Irresistible was light and fresh, L’Intense stays true to it’s name with a blend of purple plum, Turkish rose, white musks and patchouli.
For the warmer seasons, the eau de toilette will do best with just the right amount of enticing linger.
3. Pure by DKNY
For those of you who like to smell good and support the environment, Donna Karan’s Pure is for you. This new fragrance by DKNY has a fresh clean scent that’s made up of a mix of sandalwood, orchid, freesia, jasmine, white amber, lotus, Bulgarian rose and a drop of Ugandan vanilla.
The vanilla is harvested by a women’s agriculture project in Uganda in collaboration with CARE, and will help 1,000 women in Uganda gain business skills. Also, the packaging is recyclable. Scents and cents making good sense!
4. Love and Glamour: Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez remains the queen of the celebrity scent, selling over $1 billion dollars in fragrances since her first launch of Glow in 2002. Sixteen launches later, Lopez introduces her new scent, Love and Glamour.
A combination of sandalwood, musk and amber topped with the floral flavors of water lily, coconut orchid, orange blossom absolute and jasmine petals, this is a grown and sexy scent, perfect for the black tie occasion.
5. Purr by Katy Perry
Pop tart sensation Katy Perry has also jumped into the fragrance arena with her new scent, Purr. Inspired by her Catwoman stage costume, the sleek purple bottle is shaped like a cat with jeweled eyes, and is exclusively sold at Nordstrom.
Launched in November 2010, Purr boasts a fruity floral infusion of peach nectar, forbidden apple and green bamboo, jasmine, freesia, Bulgarian rose, vanilla orchid, white amber, sandalwood and musk. Great if you’re looking for a scent worn by a select few ladies due to its limited release.
6. Hello Kitty Fragrance
For all of you young at heart with an affection for Hello Kitty ala Mariah Carey, Kimora Lee Simmons and Wendy Williams, check out the new Hello Kitty fragrance sold exclusively at Sephora. You’ll go back to hopscotch and jump ropes with the signature Kitty bottle, with notes of green apple, Japanese fruits and a sprinkle of warm vanilla thrown in for good measure.
It’s fun and nostalgic, and accents the full beauty line that Sephora also launched in January 2011!
7. Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna
If you’re up on all of these scents so far, then you probably know that pop star Rihanna is the latest in the long list of celebrities to launch a fragrance, and why not!
Reb’l Fleur debuted in February 2011, and is actually perfect for summer. It emanates with a soft and sweet blend of tumerose, violet and hibiscus, with a splash of coconut water for a hint of warm Caribbean atmosphere. Innocent mist for any rebellious vixen!
Dab, spray, mist and enjoy!
