As an active radio personality, television host and mom, Egypt Sherrod has still been able to find the time to launch the Egypt Cares Family Foundation to help people in need. On December 13, 2010 Egypt will kick off the first annual Egypt’s Give Back Tour, along with various charitable organizations including New York Cares, Toys 4 Tots, The Children’s Aid Society, Jersey Cares and Hudson Cradle.
The five-day tour is a series of coat, toy, and fundraising events benefiting financially challenged residents throughout the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut). Each day of the tour, Egypt will broadcast live on New York’s WBLS 107.5 FM, 10:00am-3:00pm EST, from locations in Brooklyn, Bronx, Harlem and Queens, New York, as well as Newark, New Jersey.
“Recent statistics report that well over a half a million NYC residents will lose their unemployment benefits between now and May of 2011. That number is staggering!” Egypt said via a press announcement. “I’ve always felt a sense of responsibility to utilize the power I have behind the radio microphone to serve a much greater calling to help our communities; one that gives a voice and hope to the legions of Tri-state residents whose basic everyday needs might otherwise go unmet. The Give Back Tour is a big step in that direction.”
People able to give can donate new or clean, barely worn coats or unwrapped toys for all ages. Financial donations will be accepted as well. Donations will be accepted from 10am-3pm on the dates listed below:
