Harry Connick Jr. Scoffs ‘Antiquated’ Parenting on Ellen Show

Multi-talented entertainer and American Idol judge Harry Connick Jr. appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show today (1/8/15), and spoke on the trust he has with his teen daughters. When Ellen asked him about whether they had started dating yet, Connick responded that they’d started making some friends, and that he hates that people assume he’ll need a shotgun to keep the boys in line:

“I think that’s such an antiquated way to talk about young women. It’s almost presuming they don’t have the good judgement to go out with a guy that’s appropriate for them, so like dad has to come in and save the day. Man, the way I raised my daughters, and Jill, the way we raised our kids, hopefully they will have enough self esteem so that they’ll be able to attract guys of a certain caliber…”
