As the holidays get closer, I’ve been thinking about ways I can use my gorgeous Sony A6000 camera (with 35mm lens) to capture some of the seasonal changes this year. When Best Buy proposed that I give the latest version of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop Creative Cloud a shot, I couldn’t resist. I’m already having a blast with it, but we’ll get to that in a sec.
To start, the sign up for the one-year subscription was quick and easy. Lightroom is mobile-friendly, and it will sync in all your pics from photo streams, downloads, etc. pretty quickly. I even found pics in my stream I forgot I had, so that was cool.
Like most people in this day and age, I have a ton of pics on my phone(s), and my favorite subject is almost always my dog JoJo (or #JoJoInHarlem for those of you on Instagram). So for my first project, I took one of Jo’s best snuggly-shots and went to work. With just a few very minor touches to the “temperature”, “tint”, “shadows” and “contrast” options, I thought the brighter blue and more pronounced colors in strawberry blonde smiley-face looked pretty good. But then I went to town with a few clicks on “dehaze” and “highlight hue” and it just made the pic stand out that much more. The changes are subtle but strong, and I love the brighter colors. Take a look:
I’m no expert yet, but I enjoy the fact that I can take basic snapshots and edit them to my liking. Here are some fun facts about the Creative Cloud program that I really like, that I think will appeal to most of you:
– The one-year subscription option (at $119.99 retail) gives you space to enjoy the product, and you can choose to renew or not when it’s done. Of course Adobe is always putting out new options and updates on their products, so you know that when you do renew you’ll get the most updated technologies with the program.
– The bundled program encourages us to: “Take your best shot and make it even better with the Creative Cloud Photography plan.” This is a perfect agenda for people who are always taking photos, whether they are doing it for the ‘gram or just sharing with friends and family on Facebook. It’s pretty common these days to document every moment in your life in some way through pics, and Creative Cloud will have you looking like a true pro online or otherwise.
– If you are not taking a lot of pics but still want to have a good editing program, Adobe also offers their Elements program, which is perfect for the newer or more casual photographer.
– Speaking of the internet, Creative Cloud allows you to share your edited images to anywhere, and they even have an option to share on your socials. Factor in the Adobe Slate mobile app, and you can animate and create stories with your pics, as well as the Adobe Voice app which will allow you to speak directly through your photos in your own voice.
The other cool thing is that you can go through Best Buy’s site to get the Creative Cloud bundle, which is a plus if you’re not familiar with Adobe just yet. Now if I can find time to edit all the beautiful photos from our local gardens in NYC over the summer… this program has me excited to do it!
