When the ever-charismatic producer and entertainer David Banner gave UrbLife.com his Summer fitness tips recently, he spoke on being disciplined about his dates with the gym. This is a good thing, since he admittedly gets his couch potato on when the right video games come his way!
With releases ranging from 1988 to 2010, read on as David Banner drops some science on his Top 7 favorite video games of all time!
1. God of War (2005) and God of War II (2007)
It’s just a straightforward hack and smash game. It was like a mini movie, fighting through time. The first God of War was on PlayStation 2, and the graphics were better than most games on PlayStation 3. Some of the people you were fighting were ten times bigger than you.
Then you have the story about him being betrayed and losing his family. It was a cool backstory. Then it was the fact that he didn’t give a sh*t. His curse was that his blades were fused into his skin. Imagine having to live with that burden, to live with knowing that this is the reason that your family is dead…
2: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2007, 2009)
I love the story; I love the accuracy of the guns. It was realistic in the way you have to shoot different guns. When the last Modern Warfare (2) came out, I closed my business down that day. Everyone that worked for me knew not to call me unless it’s an emergency – I told my girlfriend don’t call my phone.
I was in Mississippi, and you can ask the people there, I went and stood in line. I wanted to go through everything that everybody else was going through.

3. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (2007) and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009)
Uncharted 1 was probably the most slept on game. It was one of those games I just walked in and said, “Give me what’s new.” I had never heard of the game. It’s arguably one of my favorite games.

4. Def Jam: Fight for NY (2004)
The reason why this game is special to me is because I was in it. The first one [Vendetta, 2003] had all of the New York rappers beating up everyone else. I went in there and was like, “I’m from the South – we’re country boys, and I want to be a part of it.”
I went in and scripted my character, told them what moves and what powers I wanted.I had a story. I was a runaway slave; I had whips on my back and a torn Confederate flag that I ripped up on my side.
5. NBA 2K11 (2010)
The greatest sports game ever! The fact that you are able to play Michael Jordan against Kobe… Everybody always wondered what would happen if Jordan went up against Dwight Howard. Whether it’s real or fake, just to have that opportunity.
They have parts of the game where you had to do the exact same thing Jordan did. If he was sick that day, you were sick that day.

6. Bionic Commando (1988)
It was on Super Nintendo. It was one of the first games that I just really got entrenched in. I would get in trouble – I would put the cover on top of the TV and play the game when my mama told me to go to bed. If I got caught, she would whoop my ass.
It was so dope, because you though that the game was over and the credits would start rolling, but it kept going.
7. Assassin’s Creed II (2009)
I hated Assassin’s Creed 1… but the storyline, being able to travel through history, I actually learned a lot from playing the game. The history and being able to jump from building to building was cool.
