Each Fall, a few gems spring up from the crop of sitcoms and drama series hopefuls. In 2011, some of our favorite Gen-Xers have nabbed prime spots, from Sarah Michelle Geller and Kerry Washington to Mario Lopez and Will Arnett.
Based upon the trailers we’ve seen thus far, there are a few shows that appear as though they may be worth checking out. Check out UrbLife.com‘s Fall round up, and let us know what you’ll be tuning in to!
Ringer
The CW – Tuesday, September 13, 2011- 9:00pm EST
Sarah Michelle Gellar is back on The CW in the new show Ringer! Gellar’s character is on the run after witnessing a murder, and later steals her deceased twin sister’s identity. What she didn’t know is that her sister’s seemly perfect life is filled adultery, criminal activity, and more! Surprise, surprise!
Others cast members in Ringer include Ioan Gruffudd (Titanic, Fantastic 4) as Andrew Martin, Tara Summers (Factory Girl, Damages) as Gemma, and Nestor Carbonell (Lost, The Dark Knight) as Agent Victor Machado.
2011 Comic- Con attendees can catch Sarah Michelle Gellar speaking on The CW panel next week (July 21-24), where they will also debut the series.

H8R
The CW – Wednesday, September 14, 2011 – 8:00pm EST
Mario Lopez (Extra, America’s Best Dance Crew) is the host of yet another show! This new series on The CW is dedicated to everyone that has someone hating on what they do. H8R allows celebrities to confront average folks that hate on them, hoping to change their feelings.
Celebrities featured on the show include Kim Kardashian, Snookie, and more! So far Lopez has been having luck with the shows he’s been a part of, and hopefully this one will be up to par.

New Girl
FOX – Tuesday, September 20, 2011 – 9:00pm EST
Damon Wayans, Jr. is continuing the family success as he stars in New Girl coming to FOX. Wayans’ character (Coach) is one of three roommates, which includes the very handsome Max Greenfield (Happy Ending, Ugly Betty) as Schmidt and Jake Johnson (No Strings Attached, Get Him To The Greek ) as Nick, living in a bachelor pad.
The cute yet goofy fourth roommate Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel (Your Highness, Bones), strolls in after breaking up with her boyfriend, and the guys try to school her back into the dating scene.

Person of Interest
CBS – Thursday, September 22, 2011 – 9:00pm EST
Person of Interest may satisfy the appetite for many fanatics of the show 24. The new CBS series is an action thriller that follows a former CIA agent, Jim Caviezel (The Passion of The Christ, Deja Vu), who was supposed to be dead.
The real life superhero (think 24‘s Jack Bauer) links up with the sinister, but genius and super rich Michael Emerson (Lost), and together they take justice into their own hands using various tactics. Taraji P. Henson also stars in Person of Interest as Detective Carter!

Up All Night
NBC – Wednesdays – 8:00pm EST
NBC’s new comedy Up All Night stars Christina Applegate (Married with Children, Anchorman) as a wife and new mother who is trying to juggle family life and career. Her husband, played by Saturday Night Live comedian Will Arnett, is trying to get used to his new life as a stay-at-home dad.
Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids, Saturday Night Live), completes this comedic bunch as Applegate’s co-worker and best friend. There should be high hopes for Up All Night since it’s written and produced by Emily Spivey and Lorne Michaels – also from SNL!

Scandal
ABC – Coming Soon!
The lovely Kerry Washington is the head chick in charge in the new ABC series Scandal, written by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice) and co-starring Guillermo Diaz (Weeds, No Ordinary Family). Washington plays Olivia Pope, a former media relations consultant to the President of the United States who leaves to start her own venture.
Washington’s new firm, which includes actor Columbus Short (The Losers, Cadillac Records), is never without a moment of crisis. It’s no sweat though, so long as Olivia Pope is the boss, everything is under control!
There is no official air-date for Scandal, but it is confirmed for fall or winter programming, so stay tuned!

Now that we’re full swing into the Fall ’11 season (on break for the holidays even), I can say that I love Ringer, Up All Night and New Girl. Even though Damon Wayans Jr. didn’t last past the pilot (he had to go back to Happy Endings http://www.radaronline.com/print/52427), New Girl is still a hit.
The cast on Up All Night is too funny – love the chemistry with the cast! I’m not sure how long Ringer can last with the plotline, but it’s definitely got my attention.
Mario Lopez show was cut as soon as it started, and Kerry Washington’s show still doesn’t appear to have a debut date?
Admittedly, I still never checked out Taraji’s Person of Interest, but then again I have heard zero point zero buzz about it. If any one is watching, fill me in!
Two other new 2011 favorites with Gen-Xers: Showtime’s Homeland (Claire Daines, Damian Lewis, Morena Baccarin) and FX’s American Horror Story (Dylan McDeromott, Connie Britton) – def worth your time to watch for many different reasons!
