This trailer for Tyler Perry‘s film For Colored Girls is powerful! Based upon Ntozake Shange‘s 1975 award-winning play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, the movie will no doubt provide even more award-worthy performances from the all-star cast.
The film’s characters refer back to 20 different poems in the play, now each given a name. The original play was performed by just seven ladies known only as “Lady in Red,” Lady in Purple” etc.
For Colored Girls will be in theaters on November 5, and stars Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, Anika Noni Rose, Thandie Newton, Michael Ealy, Phylicia Rashad, Kimberly Elise, Macy Gray and Omari Hardwick.
