I Love You Phillip Morris Trailer: Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor Find Love?!

Jim Carrey has always taken chances in his career, and his role as genius prison escape artist Steven Jay Russell in I Love You Phillip Morris may end up being one of Carrey’s most memorable.

Russell starts out as a married police officer, later coming out of the closet as both a gay man and a con man. He ends up falling for Phillip Morris (played by Ewan McGregor) in jail, and escapes several times to reunite with his true love by passing as a doctor, and even by faking his own death.

I Love You Phillip Morris also stars Leslie Mann (Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) and Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro (300, Lost, Che). Due to editing and legal issues with distribution in the U.S., the film was released first in several other markets throughout 2010, and has grossed over $18 million thus far. Apparently it was just too flamboyant or risqué for American censors/rating systems, but after some edits, it will finally hit theaters in the States on December 3.

Watch the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be going to check out I Love You Phillip Morris!
