Paramount Pictures is gearing up for the 2011 holiday season with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, and they’ve just released a new trailer for the fourth M:I installment which you can watch below.
Of course Tom Cruise returns as the wily and irrepressible IMF agent Ethan Hunt in M:I:4, and he’ll be in good company with Paula Patton (Jumping the Broom, Just Wright), Jeremy Renner (Thor, The Town), Josh Holloway (Lost), French actress Léa Seydoux (Inglourious Basterds), Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire), Bollywood veteran Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire, 24) and skilled British voice-over actor Simon Pegg reprising his M:I:3 role as Benji Dunn.
M:I:4 is being directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille, The Simpsons), with a story by J.J. Abrams, Tom Cruise and writing/production team Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec.
According to Wikipedia, the plotline for M:I:4 is as follows:
When a terrorist bombing destroys the Kremlin, the United States government activates “Ghost Protocol” and disavows the entire Impossible Mission Force. Ethan Hunt and his team are blamed for the attack, but are allowed to escape as part of a plan to enable them to operate outside their agency. Hunt is warned that if any member of his team is captured or compromised, they will be charged as terrorists planning a nuclear strike. He is forced to work with fellow IMF agent Brandt (Jeremy Renner), who knows much more about Hunt and his past than Hunt himself.
