Pam Anderson has never been shy about showing off her body, and now the 43-year-old actress/model is displaying her parts in a whole new way for PETA‘s new pro-vegetarian campaign! Unfortunately, Canada is not comfortable with the anti-meat message, and denied permits for Anderson’s promotional event in Montreal, Quebec on July 15. According to Us Magazine, the event was moved to a restaurant from the original public venue.
In early 2008, Pam donned a lettuce leaf bikini for the Go Veg campaign, and in 2009, the CNN Airport network banned a video of the vixen stripping for PETA. She had to know that she’d get some crazy attention from this too! Regardless, Anderson had some strong words for her opposers (via UsMagazine.com):
Pam Anderson: “In a city that is known for its exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that a woman would be banned from using her own body in a political protest over the suffering of cows and chickens. In some parts of the world, women are forced to cover their whole bodies with burqas — is that next? I didn’t think that Canada would be so puritanical.”
Montreal official: “It is not so much controversial, as it goes against all principles public organisations are fighting for in the everlasting battle of equality between men and women.”
Dan Mathews, PETA Senior VP: “I think that city officials are confusing ‘sexy’ with ‘sexist.'”
