When books are made into movies, you’ll often have some controversy surrounding the big screen adaptation of the story. With The Lincoln Lawyer, based upon the critically acclaimed novel by mystery writer Michael Connelly, it’s apparent the movie will have a lot to live up to.
The Lincoln Lawyer stars Matthew McConaughey as Mickey Haller, an attorney who operates out of his Lincoln town car. The powerful cast includes Ryan Phillippe as Haller’s sketchy client Louis Roulet, Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy, Josh Lucas, John Leguizamo, John Peña, Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire, Machete, Fast & Furious), Katherine Moennig (The L Word), Michaela Conlin (Bones) and Margarita Levieva (Spread, The Invisible).
The movie will be in theaters March 18, 2011. According to author Michael Connelly’s website, he watched a rough cut of the film and had this to say:
“The movie comes out March 18. A couple days ago I saw an unfinished cut of it and could not be happier. I thought it was very loyal to the story and the character of Mickey Haller. Matthew McConaughey nails him. Those who loved the book will love the movie, I think. Those who don’t know the book will love it just the same. The casting and acting is really superb. Like I said, I could not be happier. I’m very excited and can’t wait to see what fans of the book think.”
