Last night (Oct. 6) in New York, hundreds of tastemakers gathered at the Hudson Hotel to celebrate the official launch of Def Jam Rapstar. Dozens of celebrities including Method Man, Jim Jones, Maino, Juelz Santana, Vado, Freekey Zekey, Yung Joc and the Soul Diggaz joined in the fun. Word has it that G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks was also in the building, but he magically eluded the crowd.
Also in the mix were some of New York’s hottest media personalities like Ed Lover, Miss Info, Egypt, Datwon Thomas of Vibe Magazine, Chuck Creekmur and Grouchy Greg of AllHipHop.com, Carl Chery of BET.com, Sean Malcolm of King Magazine, Karen Civil, Boss Lady of DrJays.com, Steven Horowitz of YRB Magazine, Ms. Drama of MsDramaTV.com, Gabriel Williams of StuffFlyPeopleLike.com, celebrity photographer Johnny Nunez and many more. And of course yours truly was there to represent UrbLife.com and RadioPlanet.tv!
Music industry professionals including Kevin Liles and Sha Money XL were also enjoying the festivities as DJ Khaled and Funkmaster Flex held down the music all night. People were even dancing, which is almost unheard of at these NYC industry joints. Good times!
Def Jam Rapstar is in stores now in the United States, and and will be available in the U.K., Germany and Australia in November.
