Skyy Vodka has definitely done their job in terms of getting their brand mentions with their racy new ad, however the opinions about their strategy are as extreme as the ad in question. The artwork features a woman’s sky-high red latexed fit-for-a-stripper legs wrapped around a dominating Skyy bottle.
According to USA Today, Bruce Lee Livingston of the alcohol watchdog organization the Marin Institute is very put off by the image. “This is just ridiculous, it’s porn-a-hol. Underage kids will look at this and associate sexual prowess with drinking Skyy.”
Meanwhile, Skyy Vodka‘s marketing director Maura McGinn stands behind the concept: “It’s about the content of our product. We’re an adult product consumed mostly in the evening and in flirtatious situations.”
We all know there’s no sex in the champagne room, but sex with the champagne (or vodka)… that might be another story!
Is Skyy’s approach too edgy? Check out the ad and let us know what you think about it! Cast your vote below!
