Mark Wahlberg appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show today (Dec. 15) to discuss his new film The Fighter and the physical changes and intense training he endured (including eight-mile, uphill running). In the clip below, he explains how he relaxed on his diet during filming as the character changed his lifestyle, but then had to lose 30 pounds in five weeks to shoot a few pick-up scenes.

Prior to this clip, Wahlberg expressed his excitement over the 2011 Golden Globe nominations for The Fighter – Best Motion Picture, Drama; Best Actor (Mark Wahlberg); Best Supporting Actress (Amy Adams); Best Supporting Actor (Christian Bale); Best Director (David O. Russell) – and for Boardwalk Empire (Best Television Series, Drama; Best Actor (Steve Buscemi); Best Supporting Actress (Kelly MacDonald).
